New Outdoor First Aid Manual 31/07/2013

Outdoor First Aid is a new book written by Llanberis based first aid trainer, Katherine Wills, geared towards emergency care in remote UK outdoor settings.

The first couple of chapters take you through remote casualty assessment and making the decision on whether to call 999 or self-evacuate. This is followed by chapters looking at specific injuries and developing an understanding of those that can be managed and those requiring urgent evacuation of the casualty. Real-life anecdotes provide helpful context

Katherine said: "It was important for the book to be user friendly and easy to navigate. I didn't want it to be text heavy so it's structured around the idea of being shown what to do, through lots of photographs, rather than just being told."

Katherine Wills runs Active First Aid Training, one of the UK's leading providers of Rescue Emergency Care (REC) outdoor first aid courses, along with other more urban and work based courses. The book is likely to prove an invaluable resource for anyone, not just outdoor activity instructors, whose activity takes them away from immediate help and assistance in the event of an accident.

Outdoor First Aid can be bought at £15.99 directly from Katherine through her Active First Aid Training site, the publisher Pesda Press or any good outdoor retailer.

Topic: Outdoor First Aid, First Aid Training.
