iTry Adventure Activities
08/07/2008

The ‘iTry’ scheme will make it easier than ever before to have a go at sports like, canoeing, rock climbing, skiing and coasteering. The aerial challenge of high ropes courses and exciting tours on a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) are also available. Working with some of the best activity businesses across North Wales and the award winning Loop Contact Centre based in Bangor, booking an adventure experience in the region is simply a telephone call away. Snowdonia-Active have managed the setting up of this pilot project after successfully completing the tendering process through Visit Wales.

Activities will be programmed every day around Snowdonia during the summer holidays, from 19th July to 31st August 2008. iTry is designed for all the family from children to seniors and dabblers to thrill seekers. Among the options are a 'Taster and Adventure day', two-hour high rope sessions, half-day rock climbing and two-hours on the ski slope.

iTry will be launched on July 19th with a hotline number 0844 90 22 970 (lines open 9am to 5pm) and an accompanying web presence with all the information you need at www.itry-snowdonia.com. The iTry call centre team will assist with booking enquiries and then transfer callers to their chosen activity provider to complete their booking. All providers are either Green Dragon accredited or part of the WiSe (Wildlife Safe) scheme.

The pioneering scheme looks set to boost the area’s growing adventure activity sector's economy. Chris Wright, Chief Executive of Snowdonia-Active explained: “Snowdonia is the UK’s No.1 destination for outdoor activities. Making these great activities more easily accessible to both residents and visitors is vital and is hugely beneficial to the local economy. We want people to engage with the fantastic environment all around them and discover there are many ways to experience it, whether out on the water, in the hills, on the rock or even up a tree! The scheme allows all ages and abilities to try something new, hopefully enjoy it and then want to come back for more.”
