Patrick Winterton lecture
11/01/2007
On 16 February at Aberdovey Yacht Club, 8pm, Patrick Winterton is to give a lecture on his amazing sea Kayak adventure from Glasgow to the most northerly point of the British Isles, Muckle Flugga.
Patrick's passion for the sport led him to undertake an incredible 870-mile paddling trip from Glasgow to Muckle Flugga. Patrick's solo 'Scottish Extremities' expedition was the amalgamation of three routes he'd always wanted to do: Tiree to Mingulay, the Hebridean triangle, and Thurso to Muckle Flugga. Having traced these onto a single map the temptation to join the dots was too great!
His one-man expedition was one of the most committing kayak expeditions ever attempted in British waters, with many of the route's crossings never previously paddled unsupported! Six weeks, 211 islands, sea arches and stacks, five Stevenson lighthouses and the world's largest gannet colony all feature in Patrick's entertaining lecture.
