30th Snowdonia Marathon Eryri 03/01/2012

Organisers of the 2012 Snowdonia Marathon are expecting to fill the race in record time. An online entry system that went live on New Year's Day already has nearly 800 entries. Such is the popularity of marathon running and this course in particular, that the organisers are expecting to reach the entry limit in a record time.

Race co-ordinator, Jayne Lloyd, said: “The advent of online entry systems has revolutionised the way that events all over the world take entries. Runners were literally sat in front of their computers at midnight on New Years Eve waiting to enter our 2012 event."

“We are seen as one of the premier marathons in the UK now, and demand for places is getting higher every year. Last year we were full by April, this year will certainly top that.”

The race limit will once again be 2000 runners and following the 2011 event, less than three months ago, feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many runners calling it the best race of the year.

Jayne added: “We are very proud of the feedback that we receive for the race. It’s very good from an entries perspective, as the quicker we fill the race the easier it is for the organising committee to plan the logistics of the race and for us to create our budgets for the event."

"Additionally, it is great for local business as the hotels and associated businesses can gear-up knowing just how many people they will be expecting come October next year.”

The race on October 27th will be a milestone event as it reaches its 30th anniversary.

Jayne added: “We are already planning some very exciting events regarding the 30th edition of the race. For a start there have been some world-class runners at the event over the years and we hope to bring a host of former winners back to Llanberis in 2012.”

Full details, including sponsors and media are still to be finalised for the 2012 race, however Jayne says that with the 30th edition will come some very special activities.

Entries for the 2012 race are open and can be accessed by going to snowdoniamarathon.com and clicking on Enter for 2012.
