BMC Cymru Funday and AGM 30/10/2008

BMC Cymru is having a funday at Plas y Brenin (PyB) with free workshops on offer, followed by its AGM and an open forum, plus a quiz run by Noel Craine and George Smith.

During the day the following free workshops are available to BMC club and individual members:
  • A bolting workshop
  • Navigation
  • Using a GPS
  • Self-rescue for climbers
  • Welsh for hillwalkers
  • Upland environment
  • Coaching for rock climbers
However, in order to organise the workshops, booking must be made direct to bmccymruwales@live.co.uk BEFORE Friday 7th November. No bookings will be taken after this date.

Plas y Brenin's indoor climbing wall will also be free all day, simply show your membership card at PyB reception (no need to book this).

A free meal will be served at 5.00pm. The Plas y Brenin kitchen will be very busy so it's advised to be prompt for this. Meals can be taken into the AGM and open forum which will start at 5.30 pm.

The AGM will include the BMC Cymru's annual report and the election of officers. All current officers are available for re-election. BMC Cymru Chairman, Mike Raine, says: "We need to identify interested individuals who will be willing to take over next year. We are also always looking for volunteers to help out with raising the profile of hillwalking and climbing in Wales and if you can help with this please come forward. Remember we are all volunteers in BMC Cymru and the BMC is what we make it."

Following the AGM will be the open forum, which is a chance for any hillwalker or climber to raise relevant issues they are concerned about. At about 7.30 pm there will be a quiz run by the orignal climbing quiz masters of LLAMFF fame, Noel Craine and George Smith.
