The second Snowdonia Slateman, starting and finishing in Llanberis, will be taking place on Sunday 20th May.
Building on the success of last year's Slateman, mainstream television coverage has been secured for 2012 (news item
) and the number of entrants has been almost doubled from 400 to 750 competitors.
Those taking part have a choice of either the Full Slateman triathlon course, involving a kilometre swim in Llyn Padarn, a 51 km road cycle up the Llanberis Pass and back via the Ogwen Valley, finishing off with a 11 km trail run or the less demanding but still challenging Slateman Sprint with a 400 km swim, 20 km road cycle and 6km trail run.
There's plenty for spectators to see with the spectacular start to the swimming and the excitement of the transition zone located in the fields by Llyn Padarn next to the Community Centre. The Full Slateman starts at 9.30 a.m. and the Sprint Tri at 10.15 a.m.
